ZENITH JOINS THE WINTERRAID FOR A STUNNING WINTER EPIC

ZENITH JOINS THE WINTERRAID FOR A STUNNING WINTER EPIC

A new challenge for Zenith, which joins WinterRaid 2016 as Official Timekeeper. From the 13th to 16th January, Zenith will be timing the stages of this historic and unique rally.

It will also acknowledge the major role of co-drivers, with a competition conceived around the legendary performance of its iconic model, the El Primero Chronograph 1969. This is an opportunity for Zenith to celebrate the timeless beauty of historic mechanics in Switzerland and to reinforce its position and commitment in the world of classic car competitions.

The WinterRaid is a unique race which takes place in the Swiss and Italian mountains in the depths of winter: St-Moritz, Bormio, Cortina d’Ampezzo, St-Moritz. A schedule punctuated by passes and challenges offering participants unique landscapes and the chance to test their cars under some difficult conditions.

Four days of mid-winter competition, in which snowstorms, black ice and freezing temperatures add to the thrill of an already demanding programme of races. It is this originality that has built the WinterRaid legend and seduced Zenith. For the first time, the Le Locle-based manufacture will be the Official Timekeeper for the competition, to be held from the 13th to 16th January.

A great opportunity for Zenith to celebrate its links to classic cars in deepest winter, in the heart of the Swiss mountains. This exceptional environment mixes pleasure, performance and escape, above all celebrating the reliability of historic mechanics and the timeless beauty of their lines. A world of devotees perfectly in tune with the values of the Le Locle-based Manufacture.

El Primero and co-drivers - masters of time.

This competition also features an event specially organised for co-drivers. Six participating co-drivers have been randomly selected to test the reliability and durability of the El Primero under real conditions.

By wearing the watch over the 4 days of the competition, they will be able to measure their own times, closely monitor their performance and appreciate for themselves the accuracy and reliability of the legendary 1969 chronograph. The first integrated automatic chronograph in history, it remains the world's most accurate production calibre, and the only one capable of measuring short times to one tenth of a second.

At the Saint-Moritz awards ceremony on the 16th January, Zenith will present one of the six lucky participants with an El Primero Chronomaster 1969 model, a symbol of its chronometric performance and the very model from which the legend has grown. What better tribute?
